Professor, Mechatronics & ElectroMechanical Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

The successful candidate will be required to teach courses in the Mechatronics, ElectroMechanical, and Electrical program within the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology. They will also be involved in support activities that contribute to Humber’s Centres of Innovation (COI).
The incumbent will teach, develop curriculum, design/revise specific courses, create an effective and innovative learning environment for our students, assess student progress and achievement; work collaboratively with colleagues, participate in committees and related associations. Teaching will be assigned at the North campus.

The incumbent will also support student advising, student recruitment, graduate placement, assist with the promotion and marketing of programs and develop and maintain strong industry ties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have a M.Sc. (Ph.D. preferred) in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of three (3) years of industry experience in a relevant field. Industry acumen and experience is required, as well as a demonstrated ability to teach a number of courses offered by the College. The successful candidate must have polytechnic post-secondary education experience, or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry.

The successful candidate must be eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (Licensed engineer with PEO is preferred), with practical knowledge in the main and emerging fields of Mechatronics and Automation including Robotics, Integrated systems, Industry 4.0, and Advanced manufacturing. Experience coordinating project teams of learners working on industry projects / applied research and integrating of industry-led projects into curriculum is an asset. A strong network of contacts with other professionals, organizations and industry is an asset. Experience in presenting research through conferences, or having an establish program of applied research would be assets.

In addition, the successful candidate will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture. The successful candidate will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
